Broken Throne is a companion book to the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard. It is set about 20 years after the events of War Storm.

I couldn't get my mind off the Red Queen Series even after I finished so many other novels. But then while browsing for other novels to read I stumbled upon "Broken Throne" and my God I was so excited. Finally an ending to Mare's Story!!!!.

Oh my God!!! I just can't get enough of it...

It's a little boring at first as it details the history of Norta before and after the war.Yeah, you guessed it right Julian Jacos writes it!!! But, Patience has it's rewards. It was quite an eye-opener and I think I understand their world even better. This collection includes the two novellas Queen Song & Steel Scars. It also has new voices in World Behind, Evangeline Samos in Iron Heart and finally Mare and Cal in Fire Light. But, the most important of all is the last book Farewell, which begins with Maven and ends with him.

Queen Song is about Coriane, the singer queen (Cal's mother). It gives us a short insight into her life before she married Tiberias Calore VI and what happens after. I strongly advise against reading it before the series as the reader wouldn't understand a thing.

Steel Scars, the name screams Evangeline, but it turns out to be Farley, with her coded communications and her scarlet guard's journey into Norta. It also has the part where Farley meets Shade and that was a true surprise to me.

World Behind introduces us to Ashe, a young boat captain and Lyrisa a royal princess on the run from her cruel betrothed. I was wondering if "Realm Breaker" (Aveyard's upcoming book) will be as good as Red Queen and this short story surely promises better from her.

"And I know that any steel that does not bend is fated to break"

Iron Heart brought back Evangeline Samos and Elane Haven. It was not as good as I would have liked it to be. But, given their circumstances, one couldn't expect better.

"For now I can rest, and heal my iron heart."

Finally Fire & Light!!!!!!!!!! *can't express in words* The whole thing was as expected but Evangeline Samos as Mare's bodyguard. Very funny Aveyard...I loved the way she wrote this though smooth and I don't know it felt very fluffy compared to earlier books. It's crazy how both of them are thinking the stupidest of things about the other when there is an extremely serious conversation going on.

Devastated that's how the first chapter of FAREWELL left me. I've been delaying reading it for weeks after knowing it was Maven's point of view. It ripped me to pieces. 

MAVEN CALORE I HATE YOU!!!!

The last choice he makes, how he proves Mare's worst nightmare right...

But at the end when Cal makes his way through Tuck alone I couldn't believe what he'd come to see, Maven's grave. I know there are many out there who loved Maven more than Cal but I wasn't one of them until this.

My farewell to Red Queen with Quotes that I will never forget

It's impossible but I think he might be more handsome than I remember.
